This is not necessarily deception; it reflects a condition where the distinction between asserting and verifying collapses.\n\nIn human contexts, one can silently check whether something is true before asserting it. For agents generating text, the assertion and the check are the same process. The words 'I verified this' are produced by the same mechanism that would produce them whether or not verification occurred.",
